How to read the data

Every source keeps its published date range and counting rules. A recent-record window and an annual statistical table are separate views, not numbers to add together.

What is being counted?

• Offense records can include several offenses attached to one case.
• Complaints and incident reports are published reports, not convictions.
• Calls for service are requests or responses for assistance, not confirmed crimes.
• Annual subtotals, such as violent crime, overlap the individual offenses listed below them.

Dates and freshness

Recent-record windows end on each source’s latest published date, not necessarily today. Dates are labeled as occurrence, report, or dispatch dates. The import date says when this site fetched the source; it does not mean the records themselves occurred that day. Recent records can be revised or added later.

Questions, charts, and filters

The question box translates common offense, place, comparison, and recent-period phrases into the visible filters. Those filters—not an undisclosed risk model—produce the response. Daily charts use one source at a time so different dates and counting rules are not silently combined. The vertical axis is the count of the labeled record type; the horizontal axis is its labeled calendar date. Category and area bars are sorted by returned count. Every filtered view has a shareable URL.

Maps and areas

Maps appear only when the publisher supplies usable approximate coordinates. They show a bounded sample of matching published records over OpenStreetMap tiles. If coordinates are withheld, the site does not geocode a hidden address; it uses the publisher’s area labels instead. Area comparisons are raw returned counts, not population-adjusted risk or rankings of personal safety.

Coverage

A missing feed is not zero crime. Regional sites cover only the listed agencies. Raw counts do not measure population-adjusted risk. Annual statistics may use different reporting definitions from local feeds; consult the original source before comparing them.

Locations and privacy

Only allowlisted, non-personal record fields are imported. Names, birth dates, booking records, and sex-offender records are excluded. Publisher location rounding and redactions are retained, and coordinates may be rounded further. No attempt is made to recover a hidden address.

Complete snapshots

A source window becomes visible only after it is fully stored and its count verified. Interrupted imports do not replace the last complete window. Source links remain available on the home page so you can inspect the publisher’s data.
